On Wednesday 8 October, Real welcomed Ade Ademola and Nizam Uddin from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Disability Access Support team to our offices.
Ade and Nizam, who lead on disability accessibility at the DWP, met with our Employment Support team to discuss the work being done to better support Disabled jobseekers. They shared the steps the DWP is taking to improve accessibility and inclusion across employment services.
In return, our team presented findings from our recent survey on barriers to work and provided suggestions for improvement, particularly around disability awareness and reasonable adjustments. Real has been funded to deliver training to professionals in the employment sector, including Job Centre staff, to increase understanding of disability awareness and how to make reasonable adjustments in the workplace.
Real’s Engagement Officer, Rob Johnson, also showcased elements of his accessible communications training, featuring his much-loved animated characters.
It was great to exchange ideas on how Real’s Employment Support team can help strengthen the DWP’s disability access support. We look forward to continuing our collaboration to create a more accessible and inclusive employment support service for all.
